Linda May Han Oh

Bio

Linda May Han Oh was born in Malaysia in 1984. She moved to Australia with her family shortly after, and was raised there. She started to play music on a number of instruments including piano, clarinet, and bassoon. She began to play the bass guitar in high school, and eventually picked up the upright bass in college at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. After this period she relocated to New York City and studied her Master’s degree at Manhattan School of Music. Her playing is considered one of the lynchpins of modern jazz bass, she has an incredible rhythmic command over many different genres, and she continues to work with some of the foremost luminaries of the jazz world including Fabian Almazan, Ambrose Akinmusire, Pat Metheny, Billy Childs, Slide Hampton, T.S. Monk, and many others.
