Slide Hampton
Slide Hampton (1932-Present) is known as a prolific trombonist, composer, and arranger. Hampton began his career playing in Lionel Hampton’s big band and went on to play with many greats including Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, and Max Roach. Hampton’s trombone playing is marked by his warm tone and advanced harmonic ideas. He has recorded close to 40 albums as a leader and many more as a sideman. He is also known as being one of the few trombonists that plays left handed.
