Biography

Antonio Hart was born in 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland. Initially studying classical music, he switched to jazz saxophone while in college. He gained his BM from Berklee College of Music, and his MM from Queen’s College, City University of New York. Antonio Hart is known for his soulful straight ahead approach to improvising. He is firmly rooted in the blues, and exploits that fact to give soulful, emotional performances. He became widely known after his association with Roy Hargrove. Hart has played with some of the greats of our time including Robin Eubanks, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Terence Blanchard, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Holland, and McCoy Tyner.
