Arnetta Johnson
Biography
Though she only graduated Berklee College of Music in 2016, Arnetta Johnson has become an in-demand trumpet player across genres. She performed with Beyoncé at the Super Bowl in 2016, and during the On the Run II Tour in 2018. She also played on The Carters’ Grammy-winning album Everything is Love (2018). In the jazz realm, Johnson has performed with greats like Christian McBride, Ralph Peterson, Geri Allen, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Johnson released her debut album If You Hear a Trumpet, It’s Me in 2019, and leads her group SUNNY (Sounds Uplifting Nobility through Notes and Youth). Her music combines jazz, hip hop, pop, and R&B, resulting in a sound all her own. Johnson seeks to disrupt the jazz genre, uplifting and inspiring people in the process. Though she views herself as a jazz artist, Johnson wants to collaborate with artists outside of the genre, and make her mark throughout the music world.
