Bio

Buddy Rich (1917-1987) was a legendary drummer and bandleader. Born in Brooklyn, he came onto to the jazz scene playing with the bands of Artie Shaw and Tommy Dorsey among others. In the 1950’s he started his own big band and continued to keep the big band going until his death in 1987. As a player Rich was known for his high energy and impactful drum solos. A lot of the songs that his big band performed have become standard literature and are still performed across the world to this day.
