Elvin Jones
Bio
Elvin Jones (1927-2004) was one of the most influential drummers in jazz history. Jones was born into a musical family, and his older brothers Thad and Hank became jazz legends in their own right. In the 1950’s Jones played with both Charles Mingus and Sonny Rollins. In the 1960’s he played with John Coltrane, and most notably recorded the legendary album “A Love Supreme.” Jones is known for his intense energy and use of cymbals.
