Les Double Six
Biography
Les Double Six was a French Vocal group formed in 1959 by singer Mimi Perrin. The group gained interntationl fame in the 1960s. The name “Double Six” was chosen for the group because they were a sextet that used an audio technique called “double tracking”. The group would record to a track, and then record an identical take on a second track, to fatten or enhance the sound.
Les Double Six performed jazz standards, often mimicking the sounds of horn instruments like saxophones, trumpets, and trombones. They were famously featured on “Dizzy Gillespie and the Double Six of Paris" in 1963.
