The Manhattan Transfer

Biography

The Manhattan Transfer is among the oldest of vocal jazz groups, and can easily be considered the pioneer of what vocal jazz has become today! Founded in 1969, the group has gone through a handful of different members such as Tim Hauser, Erin Dickins, Marty Nelson, Pat Rosalia, Cheryl Bentyne, and more. The group has released more than a dozen records, but some of the most popular releases include “Vocalese”, “Brasil”, and “Extensions”. You may have heard their chart-topping release “Boy From New York City”… since it reached #7 at the time of its release. Unsurprisingly, the group has been awarded multiple Grammy’s in both pop and jazz genres.
