McCoy Tyner
Bio
McCoy Tyner (1938-2020) is one of the most influential voices in jazz history. Tyner is known for his unique comping which comprised heavily of the use of fourths in his voicings and also his uniquely articulated and phrased melodic lines. Tyner first gained popularity as a regular member of John Coltrane’s group in the 1960’s. He recorded over 60 albums as a leader and played with other jazz greats including Wayne Shorter and Lee Morgan.
