Mike Moreno
Biography
Houston, Texas native Mike Moreno (b. 1978) ranks among the leading jazz guitarists of his generation, and boasts an impressive recording and performing resume. Moreno attended the Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, adding his name to a list of alumni that includes luminaries like Robert Glasper, James Francies, Eric Harland, Walter Smith III, and Beyoncé. After finishing his studies at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Studies, Moreno’s sophisticated and hard-hitting sound landed him gigs with many world-class musicians. His extensive performing career includes collaborations with the likes of Joshua Redman, Kenny Garrett, Nicholas Payton, and Robert Glasper. Moreno has also released six albums as a leader, including Between the Lines (2007), which The New York Times listed as one of the ten best jazz albums of 2007. Besides recording and performing, Mike Moreno teaches at the Manhattan School of Music and the New School.
