Miles Davis
Biography
Miles Davis (1926-1991) is commonly regarded as one of the most influential jazz musicians in history. Davis is known for his musical improvising, in which he used lots of space in his solos. He is also known for his harmon mute playing, a sound that he made popular and which thousands of other trumpet players have emulated since. Davis is also known as one of the most influential band leaders in jazz history. John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and many other greats were members of Davis’s bands throughout the years. Davis’ music was ever evolving going from bebop, to cool jazz, to modal jazz, and fusion, and he recorded over 50 albums as a leader.
