Bio

Philly Jo Jones (1923-1985) was one of the most influential drummers in jazz history. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Jones became one of the most sought after drummers of the 1950’s. He was a member of Miles Davis’s first great quintet and played with many other greats including Hank Mobley and Bill Evans. Miles Davis referred to Jones as his favorite drummer in his autobiography.
