Ray Brown is most well known for his work as a bass player, but he was also a skilled cellist. In 1960, Ray Brown released a recording called “Ray Brown Jazz Cello”. This record showcases a rarely heard element of Brown’s talent and musicianship. Ray Brown was quoted saying "I think it's a wonderful means of expression because it contains the lower range of a guitar and and the higher range of a bass.”
