Roy Haynes

Roy Haynes (1925-Present) has been one of the most active jazz drummers over the past eight decades. His professional drumming career started in 1947 when he began playing with Lester Young’s band. Haynes went on to play with dozens of other jazz legends including Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, and Sonny Rollins. He was nicknamed “Snap Crackle” due to loud and powerful snare drum hits that became a trademark of his playing. Haynes has recorded over 20 albums as a leader and has recorded over a 100 more albums as a sideman.
